Labor Services Lead to Savings, Safety Recognition

Based on an existing warehouse relationship, the customer approached WSI about handling the labor at one of their southern locations. WSI positioned personnel in the customer’s facilities and worked closely with their engineers to install a new repackaging line. The successful implementation prompted the customer to contract WSI labor at two additional distribution centers.

The regional logistics manager was extremely pleased with how the teams meshed: “WSI operated as a valued extension of our organization; the integration and interchange were seamless. I could depend on 100% integrity at every level of their organization. Key performance indicators, like on-time service and cycle counts, were outstanding. The relationship gave us the best of both worlds: their logistics expertise gave us the freedom to focus on our core competencies.”

Not only did the customer realize significant labor savings through the partnership; WSI was also “instrumental,” according to the customer, in helping those distribution centers reach OSHA STAR safety status. STAR status is the highest VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) designation awarded by OSHA, indicating that a facility has achieved injury and illness rates below its industry national average, and demonstrated exemplary safety and health management systems.
